3 simple ways to re-vamp your home (AD)

During these past few months, while we were all stuck at home, I’m sure a lot of you will have been looking around your houses looking for DIY projects to update your home.

There are so many things you can do around the house to spruce the place up, but one thing that often gets overlooked is the skirting boards. They’re always the thing in the house to ever get cleaned and end up looking all grubby, and no matter what you do to the rest of the room, it just never looks complete with old skirting boards still attached.

If you’re looking to update your skirting boards, Skirting World have some lovely designs available. My favourite is the 330 MDF skirting board, as it is such a lovely pattern and I think it would be a great finishing touch to any room. Their skirting boards are made from premium HDF material. They are hard-wearing and long lasting, and as opposed to natural wooden boards, you don’t have to worry about knots and cracking.

Skirting World have a great video and step-by-step guide onΒ how to fit skirting boards which you definitely need to check out if you’re looking to update your skirting.

Another great way of updating a room is painting it. Even if it’s just touching up little bits that have cracked or scuffed, and whether it’s a different colour or not, a new coat of paint is sometimes all a room needs to feel brand new.

On the subject of painting, my last tip on re-vamping a home is to freshen up the paint on your doors, door frames and radiators. These can sometimes end up looking worn and dull, so a fresh coat of gloss paint will definitely make all the difference. Just make sure to give it a long time to dry otherwise you’ll be in a mess!

What are some of your favourite ways to spruce up your house?

Until next time.

  1. Great advice! It’s amazing how much of a difference a coat of paint can make, isn’t it? I love giving a bright, fresh colour – something that brings some positive energy into the room. I have been talking about redoing our bathroom recently and that’s the first place that I’ll start!

  2. A fresh coat of paint can do wonders to revitalize a living space. I am hoping to get that done soon, actually. Thanks for the nudge. πŸ™‚

  3. I rent so unable to do much to my room. I was given some plants during lockdown to try and grow by my dad and they have lifted my room and I’ve not killed them yet. Can’t wait to get my own place and be able to style it how I want too x

  4. Oh thanks for the reminder to repaint our skirting boards (we call them base boards in Canada)! I love having a neutral paint palette so that I can change things up frequently with decorative items such as throw pillows.

  5. It’s amazing what a lick of paint can do, isn’t it? Even if it is the same colour, definitely freshens up a room. I haven’t heard of the skirting board place, will have to check them out the next time we change ours up!

    Thanks for sharing!
