My skincare routine 2019

Recently I have been going through a bit of a skin nightmare! Hormones got the better of my face, and in an aid to combat this, I started a new skincare routine. I had so many products I hadn’t tried, either from advent calendars or subscription boxes, so I thought I would go through what I had and find what works well for me.

Starting with the evening, after a long day at work I can’t wait to take my makeup off! I start by removing my eye makeup with The Body Shop’s camomile eye makeup remover. This is really gentle, as the name suggests, but gets makeup off really well. I can do both eyes with just one cotton pad. I then use a makeup wipe all over my face to get the bulk of my makeup off. At the moment I’m using some from Primark, but I tend to mix it up depending where I can get some at the time.

I then go all over my face with the Garnier Micellar water to get rid of the rest of the makeup.

On alternate nights, after my face is nice and clean, I use the Pixi rose tonic to close my pores. I’m really enjoying using this so far, and it smells amazing!  I then go in with The Body Shop’s tea tree night lotion which I’ve found has helped clear up my skin. I’ve also been using this balanceme eye cream, which again I am really liking. I’ve definitely seen a decrease in puffiness.

On the other alternate night I use the Alpha Liquid Gold glycolic acid, which I find helps to brighten my skin and get rid of any dullness of the outer layer.

Onto the morning, I tend to use a face wipe to remove any product left from the night before s well as any oils and dirt on my skin. I then use the Pixi toner, and on top of this I use The Body Shop’s tea tree anti-imperfection daily solution. As you can tell, I’m a big fan of the tea tree range, and I honestly think it’s helped clear my skin up in the past! I then use The Body Shop’s vitamin E intense moisture cream. This is my all time favourite moisturiser, it’s really thick which I love! Then I carry on with my makeup as normal.

Recently I’ve been loving facemasks (more than normal), so every Sunday and Wednesday I try and do one. I tend to do a more mud type mask on a Sunday to try and clear my skin. At the moment I’ve been loving The Body Shop’s tea tree face mask. On Wednesdays I tend to use a sheet mask for a bit of mid week moisture. At the moment I’m loving the Disney range from Primark!

What skincare products are you loving recently?

Until next time.

  1. Ooooh I haven’t tried the Disney face makes! I’ve only recently got into a skin care routine (better late than never) and it’s not much but better than nothing. In the morning I moisturise with a cream I buy from Fuerteventura which contains snail slime extracts (sounds gross but it’s the best feeling cream I’ve used in my life, I love it so much) and in the evening I use Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser after removing make-up with face wipes and then put No 7 eye cream on before bed. I use face masks when I remember! I feel like my skincare routine should be more involved (and I definitely want to incorporate some Vit E into it somewhere) but I find it all very overwhelming so trying to stick with something small at the moment. If you’ve got any tips for how I could make it more effective without adding too much extra effort and cost that would be great! I do need to start taking my skin seriously, it’s only getting older…

  2. I love Sanctuary Spa face wash and face scrub (I’ve forgotten their exact names) and I use one or other in the shower but I’m awful at any other skincare XD I keep trying but I just don’t settle into a routine. Yours sounds excellent!

  3. I actually just started using Garnier’s micellar water too, really like it! And the tea tree products from the body shop are my all time faves. They have improved my skin so much! Great post! Keep it up! xx

  4. I love the Garnier micellar water. It’s so good and cleans my face really well. I’ve really been liking a L’Oréal charcoal facial wash lately. It makes my skin feel so clean. I meant to pick up some Pixi products when I was in the UK but I ran out of space in my bags. I’ve heard so many good things about it, so I’m kicking myself for not getting some of their products!

  5. This looks like a great rotation! I’ve been struggling a bit lately too, so I’ve been implementing more moisture with a Sephora sleep mask and a collagen-boost moisturizer from St. Ives. I also got a witch hazel toner, but not yet sure if that’s effective or not. Thank you for sharing, and I wish you the best of luck!
